DENNIS F. MOSS

Mr. Moss is a founding partner at Spiro Moss.  Mr. Moss’ entire 27-year career as an attorney has been devoted to representation of the rights of private and public sector employees in union and non-union contexts.  He has been lead or co-lead counsel in approximately 40 class actions and FLSA representative actions.  He has argued over 20 appeals in state and federal appellate courts on issues ranging from the propriety of class certification to the constitutional rights of public employees to speak out on matters of public concern.  He was sole attorney for the plaintiff employee in the leading California Supreme Court case on wage and hour laws, Ramirez v. Yosemite Water Co.,  20 Cal.4th 785 (1999), a case that significantly advanced the overtime rights of California employees.  Along with Mr. Spiro, he wrote a friend of the court brief in the leading California case on class certification, Sav-On Drug Stores, Inc. v. Superior Court, 34 Cal.4th 319 (2004).

Mr. Moss has lectured at seminars for attorneys on a variety of topics, including contracting out of State employee work, wage and hour class actions, preemption, class action mediation from the perspective of plaintiffs’ attorneys, and the Class Action Fairness Act.  He is on the Executive Committee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association Labor and Employment Law Section.

Mr. Moss received his B.A. in 1974 from the University of California, Berkeley, and his law degree in 1977 from Loyola Law School.
